Velatura unlike mineral primers, paints, and plasters, is a material that cannot be covered by any mineral decorative finish unless a mineral primer is applied beforehand. Velatura can be used in conguction with mineral products but only as a final finish applied on mineral finishes. When applied over any finish or product a slight haze or cream is inherent in the product when it dries, no matter how diluted, thus acting as a glaze. Can be tinted to any color and is typically slightly darker or lighter than the color for which it is to be applied.

Other Uses:

Velatura is an excellent consolidator when applied over lime wash products applied to wood beams or floors when creating an antique effect of lime wash on wood. Velatura will permit easy handeling of wood products once applied to lime painted wood, but will not seal against water, oil penetrations, or stains. Creates natural glazed effects on latex or minearl paint based products, and can be manipulated by brush, sponge, plastic, or cloth. Can be used for exterior or interior surfaces. Please remember that it must be applied as a final product and cannot be re-covered by any mineral product to correct mistakes that may occur when being used by an applicator. Can be waxed or have a penetrating polyurethane (non petrolium base), applied to the surface after it has dried and moisture has mostly evaporated from the wood or mineral/plaster based surface.
